Dear Families,
Welcome to fourth grade! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready for a fun-filled school year. I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, and to meeting new students this year. I got married over the summer, so It may take a little time for students (and for me) to get used to my new name-Mrs. Thompson! I think it’s safe to say that I had a memorable summer! :) In this letter you will find some important information to refer to throughout the year, with more to come!
Communication:
This year, fourth grade teachers and students will be using an app called ClassDojo to share photos from class, important updates, and behavior check-ins . In addition to parent communication, this will be used for classroom management purposes. Because this will be our main source of communication this year, it is very important that you download the app on your phone or device, and check for updates DAILY! Attached you will find instructions on how you and your child can join. Please join as soon as possible, and do not hesitate to contact me if you are having any issues. Once you are connected, send me a message to say hello! Of course I can always be reached via e-mail or phone, at [email protected] or 401-647-5100.
Your child will receive a Homework Folder that goes home every night and comes back to school every morning. The Homework Folder will contain your child’s homework for the evening along with any “homework helpers,” which could include a number chart, comprehension skills we are working on in class, a classroom text, etc. Permission slips and other notes that need to be signed and returned, other school-wide notices, graded work, and art work will also be sent home. Please check this folder every evening and ask your child to remove any material that should be kept at home. We will review our homework policy and requirements in detail at Back to School Night. In addition to folders, students will bring home planners each night. Please check your child’s planner to ensure that they are writing down and completing their homework appropriately. I will be checking their planners daily, so I will view any notes that you write to me.
The fourth grade team will be sending home updates at the start of each unit informing families about what we are learning in class, and/or any other important/exciting information. I will also be sending out these updates on Class Dojo and my website. You can access my page from the Paine website, or by typing in www.misspasquazzi.weebly.com. On my website, you will also find tech tools that we are using in class, homework requirements, and important math helpers for each unit! Please be patient as I update my website over the next few weeks.
Snack/Lunch:
Our snack time will vary based on our daily schedule, but will take place each morning. Please send in a healthy snack that is ready to eat! Fourth grade lunch will be from 12-12:45 every day.
Specials:
Monday-Library with Mrs. Scanlon
Student Electives (More information to come)
Tuesday-Health with Mrs. Cairone
Wednesday-Art with Mrs. Bergstrom
Thursday-Music with Mrs. Jones/Mrs. Wheeler
Friday-Physical Ed. with Mr. Vuono *Please wear appropriate shoes/attire
Helpful Donations (All year long):
Anything that has not been addressed in this letter will likely be addressed in a weekly newsletter, or at Back to School Night on September 11th. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions before then! I look forward to meeting and working closely with each one of you this year.
Thank you,
Mrs. Thompson
